Max Payne 3 and LA Noire will also shut down their online servers and lose all website stats through the Rockstar Games Social Club. GTA Online isn’t the only game affected by server shutdowns. Any unused Shark Cards on PS3 will also be lost as they are platform specific and their value cannot be transferred to another platform. There is no way to transfer progress or character profiles to the PS4 or the upcoming PS5 version of the game. Once the PS3 version is closed, players’ progress in this version of the game will be lost forever. From this point on, players will be able to play the campaign but will not be able to play any of the online modes.
The online PS3 servers, including website stats tracking through the Rockstar Games Social Club, will then be closed on December 16, 2021. On September 16, 2021, players will no longer be able to purchase Shark Cards on PS3. Services for the game on PlayStation 4 remain unchanged. The developer is closing the PS3 online services for GTA Online as they will focus on launching Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Max Payne and LA Noire will close in september wile GTA Online will be available until December. Rockstar has announced that they will be discontinuing online services for: GTA Online, Max Payne 3, and LA Noire on Playstation 3.
